Crimewood: For the Educated Citizen

The vacant house at 1346 Webb caught fire early Sunday morning. The fire started in the kitchen. According to a neighbor, the home was quickly engulfed. The Howard Hanna Web site indicates the small 128-year-old house was listed for sale for $64,900. The house was not in foreclosure, but $4,975.96 is owed in property taxes dating to 2006. Police were called to the house in April and September. * Sunday, April 27, 2008 - 1361 Webb - Suspicion. Complainant stated that the house 1 north of her is vacant and she thinks someone was walking around inside. House checked secure. House was a lock box and it appears that the last person who was there didn%u2019t close the door all the way. Door was secured. * Thursday, September 25, 2008 - 1346 Webb - Open building. Open door on a vacant house. Door resecured. On November 20th, this fire was ruled an arson.
